La Clemenza di Tito, featuring Oren Gradus, to be broadcast as part of The Metropolitan Opera’s Summer HD Festival
On August 28, the Metropolitan Opera will screen La Clemenza di Tito for free at Lincoln Center Plaza as part of the company’s Summer HD Festival. Featuring Oren Gradus as a “sturdy” Publio (the New York Times), the performance was originally broadcast as part of the Met in HD series on December 1, 2012. In Mozart’s late masterwork, Oren is featured opposite Elina Garanca as Sesto, Barbara Frittoli as Vitellia, and Giuseppe Filianoti as Tito.
American bass Oren Gradus appears in Sweden, as a soloist in Ça Ira by Roger Waters on August 13 at the Götaplatsen, Gothenburg. Written by the Pink Floyd co-founder, bassist, and vocalist, Ça Ira details the early days of the French Revolution, the bicentennial of which this work was originally written to commemorate. It received its world premiere in Rome in 2005, the same year that a recording featuring Bryn Terfel and Paul Groves was also released.
Appearing with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Choir under Rick Wentworth, Gradus sings several characters in this epic work, starring alongside soprano Sally Matthews, tenors Bryan Hymel and Rickard Söderberg, and bass-baritone Christian Van Horn. For more information, click here.
